An animation studio is always proud of being shortlisted with a project for the Goya Awards, but having two projects preselected is an amazing feeling, it represents the pride and elation of all those who have been part of the production of these shortfilms.

This year we are shortlisted with our animated shorts El Fin (The End) and Use the coconut, and we can´t be happier.

The End, is a story that talks about true and everlasting love, that stay on in the chest of two lovers avoiding the pass of time and the lost of memory. It is the story of Pierre and Amparo, who, holding their hands had walked thru life with crossing its joys and vicissitudes.

In addition to its deep and dramatic content, The End is the result of creative research and technical experimentation, which leads to the final look, where color stains are alive and fluctuate on the image as if it were watercolor.

The languid and subtle color transports to Pierre´s point of view, where his memory plays tricks, and the world is becoming blurry and imprecise. Every moment of the film and every technical decision, are at the service of the emotional expression of the characters, which has been a real narrative challenge.

In a complete different order; we have been preselected with to Use the Coconut, a colorful, vibrant and exotic short film, which behind the funny performance of its characters, seeks to raise awareness about the importance of innovation and creativity in today’s society.

In this short film Honky & Tonk, will face an elusive fish, which has been able to avoid Honky´s feeding intentions. But Tonk, a vivacious and cunning monkey can solve, using the coconut, all kind of obstacles.

Este año estamos preseleccionados con nuestros cortometrajes animados El Fin (The End) y con Usa el coco, y no podemos sentirnos más felices.

El Fin, es una historia que habla sobre el amor verdadero e imperecedero, esa estrella que logra permanecer encendida en el pecho de dos amantes, pese al paso del tiempo y la memoria. Es la historia de Pierre y Amparo, que dados de la mano, transitarán a lo largo de la vida con sus alegrías y sus vicisitudes.

Además de su profundo contenido emocional y dramático, El Fin (The End) es resultado del  estudio gráfico creativo y de la experimentación técnica, donde el acabado final conduce a que las manchas de color del cortometraje estén vivas y fluctúen como si de acuarela se tratase. El color lánguido y sutil, nos transporta al interior de Pierre, donde su memoria le juega malas pasadas, y el mundo empieza a tornarse cada vez más borroso e impreciso. Cada momento del cortometraje y cada decisión técnica, están al servicio de la expresión emocional de los personajes, lo que ha constituido un verdadero reto narrativo.

Alejándonos diametralmente de El Fin, tenemos a Usa el Coco, un cortometraje colorido, vibrante y exótico, en clave de comedia, que tras la actuación desenfadada de sus personajes busca crear conciencia sobre la importancia de la innovación y la creatividad a la hora de resolver un problema.

En este corto Honky & Tonk, se enfrentarán a un huidizo pez, que buscará salvarse de la alimenticias intenciones de Honky. Pero Tonk, un mono vivaz y astuto podrá resolver, usando el coco, los obstáculos que se presentan.

Once again and staying faithful to our vocation to contribute with animation´s world, we have developed and produced a new short film called The End.

This new short film defines itself as a window into the inner life of Pierre and Amparo, a couple of grandparents who have gone through life holding each other. The end is certainly an ode to true love.

The production has take six months, and everyone in Hampa has work really hard to make it true. Once again we had the enormous pleasure of having in the team Iván Lopis and Banjo Music creating and recording the original sound track, Javier Tatay completely dedicated to a careful and detailed Postproduction and Ferran Brooks as photography director. In this short Diana Rodriguez has participated as co-director, working on the creative direction hand by hand with Alex Cervantes, parking temporarily her role as producer.

The End is not only the result of a clear experimental aim and mixed animation techniques, it is also the result of the collaborative and cooperative work of all the team in every single process.

The entire team, led by Alex Cervantes, has reviewed and discuss each step of the production: from script written by César Sabater, going through art, until the final edition; even when it were not their area of ​​expertise.

The result is a universal love story, more deep and honest; than it would have been if we had followed the production standards for create it.

Margarita, no solo nos dejó un importante legado de premios y selecciones, sino una invalorable experiencia para el equipo desde todos los puntos de vista, representó una transición hacia la madurez.

En todo caso despedimos esta aventura empezando una nueva. A día de hoy hemos terminado la preproducción de nuestro nuevo cortometraje The End, del cual se pueden ver las primeras imágenes en la página oficial de facebook Hampa Animation Studio, donde están las fotografías del primer día de rodaje para contar con modelos de luz y el album de la sesión de doblaje. Muy pronto estrenaremos el diario de producción online que traerá consigo muchas sorpresas.
